  I glanced back at the clock. It was eight-twenty. I sighed and phoned my secretary, Lisa.

  “Lisa?”

  “Good morning, Mr. Steele. What can I help you with?”

  “Oh, I got received a call about five minutes ago, from a Betty Harris. She’s a friend of Rosy and said she was dropping her off.”

  “Good.” I was relieved Rosy wouldn’t be walking the entire way.

  “Is there anything else I can assist with?” Lisa asked.

  “No, that’s it.” I hung up the phone and stood up to get a cup of coffee. I sipped it slowly to try and relax.

  My phone rang, causing me to jump. I rushed over and picked it up.

  “Yes?”

  “Hi, Mr. Steele. Rosy is here. Should I send her up?”

  It had barely been half an hour, but I felt like I’d been waiting forever.

  “Send her in.”

  I paced back and forth in my office until I heard a light knock. I walked back to my desk, sat down, and folded my hands on top of the shiny wooden surface.

  “Come in!” I announced.

  Rosy slowly opened the door and peeked in. Her curls were pulled back into a ponytail, and she was wearing a tight white shirt and black shorts.   The following morning, we got into Steele’s expensive Porsche. It was black with tinted windows, and the interior was supple red leather.

  “What do you think?” Steele asked as he took off his blazer.
