  But when I leaned forward, I was once again struck by how beautiful the city was at night. It twinkled with bright lights and a splattering of color. In the backdrop, mountains soared into the misty sky, looking like they were about to touch the moon.

  “It’s beautiful,” I said softly.

  “Not as beautiful as you.” Aaron gently tucked a lock of my hair behind my ear before kissing my cheek. “You’re breathtaking.”

  A minute later, we were snuggled up in the backseat. The view no longer mattered. All that mattered was being in his arms and feeling the warmth of his body against mine. I laid my head on his chest and smiled.

  It felt good to be by his side.

The way he wrote about her echoed with love. I smiled, remembering fondly the few memories I had of my father. I wished that I had known him better – that I could talk to him right now.
