  About This Book

  Tim: The bachelor auction was the worst thing that ever happened to me. We had to get on stage shirtless, our chests coated in gooey, slick oil. Even worse, there were a bunch of middle-aged ladies with too much lipstick and too much money fluttering their lashes at me. No thanks, I’ll pass. My evening was ruined - that is, until a certain sassy curvy girl steps up to bid.

  * * *

  Lina: Tim doesn’t remember who I am. A long time ago, our parents were married, and we lived down the hall from one another. My stepbrother was a gorgeous, hunky football player, while I was a dorky, nerdy girl with knobby knees and braces. Now I’m back, but I’ve changed. Gone are the buckteeth and cowlicks, and in their place are sassy curves that go on for days. But what happens when I get pregnant? Will my stepbrother claim his rightful place as my babydaddy, or will he leave me to raise our child on my own?

  Hey Readers – We’re back in the little town of Prescott to follow hunky paramedic Tim on his journey to fatherhood! He’s entranced by the curvy girl but what happens when he realizes that they’re actually related? This is a sequel to Pregnant By 2 Men, Daddy in Waiting, and Unexpected Daddy, but don’t worry, all of my books are standalones so they don’t need to be read in any particular order. However, you’ll enjoy the cameos from your favorite characters, including Jessa, Mindy, Jake and Pepper, among others! No cheating, no cliffhangers, and always an HEA for my readers. You’ll love it, I promise! Xoxo, Cassie

  Tim

  * * *

  It’s a warm Friday night tonight in Prescott, Wyoming, and after a long, ten-hour shift, it’s finally time to clock out and head home. It was a largely uneventful shift; the most excitement came in the form of an elderly man who had a heart attack while visiting his grandchildren. I guess there was a pa
rticular kid who was especially adorable with his chubby cheeks and blonde curls, and the old guy started having chest pains from the cute overload. Who knew that could happen? But indeed, it did. Luckily, we got to him in the nick of time, and the proud grandfather’s life was saved.

  But now, I can’t wait to get into my own truck, drive home, and relax a bit. I’ve been working on a new sculpture. I’m whittling a blue whale from wood, and it’s been dragging a little. The project shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours, but because of my job, I haven’t gotten to do much more than a few cuts. After all, by the time I get home, it’s usually 11 p.m. and I’m too exhausted to pick up my knife. It’s enough just to throw myself on my bed and pass out.

  “… listening?”

  “What?” I ask before I can stop myself.

  My partner, Sam, smirks at me, and I know I’ve messed up. When he gets that glint in his eye, I know some friendly joshing is coming my way. I wonder how Rob Trainor, Sam’s partner before me, dealt with this. Did he match his partner blow for blow? Or did he just ignore the bastard?

  “Yo buddy,” Sam drawls, “Is there a woman that’s got you so distracted?”

  I roll my eyes and shake my head. Like I have time for dating. My partner knows as well as I do that our job doesn’t leave a lot of space for going out of any sort. Just because he lucked out and found the love of his life while on the job doesn’t mean we all will. After all, Sam met his fiancée, Jessa, after she stole one of our emergency vehicles, and they fell in love after some trials and travails. But it all worked out because they’re happy as two bedbugs in a rug now, with a pair of kids to boot.

  Now Sam leans back in his seat and stretches his arms over his head. “Alright, fine, no woman then,” he says. “You’re, what, thirty-two?”

  “Thirty,” I reply in a short tone. He shrugs and grins.

  “You’re getting up there, kid. Before you know it, you’re going to be using a walker to get around instead of cuddling up with a sweet young thing. You might want to start thinking about finding a nice girl to settle down with.”

  I let out a rude snort, and Sam shrugs.

  “Just saying,” he drawls. “Trust me, once you meet the right one, life is sooo much better. No more chasing strange. No more fumbling for protection in the sack,” he says in a sly tone. “It’s all bare after you both give the go ahead.”

  I ignore him. This guy is such a lech, and he already has a woman. I guess old habits die hard.

  As we reach the stoplight at the intersection of Oak and Lamar, I notice a new flower shop has moved in along the retail strip. It’s called Amazing Blooms and the proprietors have done it up well. There’s a red and white striped awning over the front door, with plenty of leafy greens and beautiful blossoms in the window. Nice. I think that spot used to be a flower shop even when I was a kid, but with a different name. It was closed for a while, like a sad-eyed ghoul on the street, but now, it’s nice to know that someone’s moved in.

  “You know, when I was your age, I didn’t think I’d ever have a family,” Sam rambles, oblivious to my thoughts. “My father wasn’t a great husband, and I think I was worried I’d be like him. But you know what? Everything changes. My Jess is a great woman, and she and the kids keep me grounded.”

  I shoot him a measured look. “Thanks, Sam. Appreciate it.”

  I really don’t want to talk about this, but my partner purposefully doesn’t take the hint. He laughs and runs a hand through his hair. “Maybe you’re right, kid. Nights like these always get me into my feelings, and soon I start shooting the shit. Feel free to ignore me.”

  “Gladly,” I mutter. Then, I glance at my partner again and it’s true – Sam does look pretty happy. Most guys dream of playing the field and sowing their wild oats without abandon, but it seems domestic life suits the blond man well. He’s content in a way I don’t see very often among single men, and he smiles to himself even now, probably envisioning his kids’ funny antics.

  But then Sam starts talking again and I sigh silently. Fuck, why tonight? I wish he’d just shut up, but he’s been a paramedic longer than I have, so I need to respect my elders. I snort under my breath. I wouldn’t say Sam is full of wisdom, but he certainly thinks he is.

  “So I hear you’re going to be a part of that bachelor auction,” the EMT smirks.

  I try to keep my expression neutral.

  “Yeah, I guess. Got roped into it by Rob.”

  Rob’s a senior manager in our squad, and he basically forced me to participate. I get it. The auction’s for a good cause because we’re donating all proceeds to Kids Hope, a charity that helps children with leukemia. There will be a legion of firefighters, police officers, and EMTs there with our shirts off, ready to escort a woman on a date for the right price.

  Still, I can’t help but cringe in dread, even if this is all for charity. I’m likely going to be “won” by some middle-aged lady with her make-up spackled on, and a penchant for men twenty years her junior. My shoulders slump and anger brews in my chest. Why me? Why not Rob, or Sam for that matter?

  But the answer is all too clear. Rob and Sam are both in long-term relationships and there’s no way Jess and Pepper would let them participate. As a result, the single guys in the department have been offered up for slaughter, and it’s going to be my blood dripping from the sacrificial altar. Ugh. This is going to be fucking awful.

  But Sam merely chortles.

  “Don’t look so glum, buddy. You’re the perfect choice. Handsome, studly, with a big … ahem, smile.” Sam smirks at his own joke. “I bet you raise at least five hundred bucks.”

  I snort with derision.

  “Unlikely.”

  Sam merely smiles again.

  “You never know,” he says in a light tone. “I’d pay an ungodly sum if Jessa were up on stage. Good thing I already put my babies in her so she’ll never go up for auction.”

  I shake my head, but at least I’m saved from answering because we’ve pulled the ambulance into the parking lot at Prescott General.

  “You go ahead,” I say. “Go home. I’ll handle inventory and supply check tonight.”

  Sam nods jauntily while hopping out of the cab.

  “Thanks, kid,” he says. “Jess is waiting, and having a gorgeous woman in my bed makes me want to get home sooner rather than later.”

  I nod and wave him away as he practically dashes across the parking lot to his car. Then, I finish up and head into the hospital to hand in our report.

  “Everything good tonight?” Nicole, a pretty nurse asks. She bats her lashes at me, but I merely smile and nod. Nicole’s not my type because she’s as thin as a rail, with arms like twigs. I like curvy girls, not women who look like they could use a solid meal.

  “Yeah, things were quiet,” I reply politely. “Nothing to report.”

  “Great,” she simpers while jutting her hip to the left and squeezing her clipboard across her breasts. “Have a good night, Tim!”

  I merely wave while leaving. But once in my truck, my bad mood returns. Sam’s right – he’s got a gorgeous woman waiting for him at home, whereas what do I have? Nothing but a cold, dark apartment and some gloopy TV dinners.

  I rev the engine and pause for a moment. A few towns over, there’s a strip club that I haven’t been to in a long time. The Krazy Kat’s not exactly the classiest place, but they’ve got some good music and cold drinks, not to mention an assortment of sassy ladies with meat on their bones. Why not have a look? After all, I’ve got nothing else going on. With that, I pull my truck out of the parking lot and start driving to the club, ready to relax and enjoy myself.

  Lina

  * * *

  The Krazy Kat is busy tonight, but it’s Friday, so that’s not a surprise. I’m sitting at one of the many vanities in the back room, behind the stage. Around me, other girls (I guess I could call them my co-workers) are either getting ready for their sets or preparing to go home. I’m putting on the finishing touche
s of my makeup when my cellphone buzzes on the table next to me.

  I answer without looking. “This is Lina,” I say into the receiver, trying to fumble open a compact of blush. I’m not one for make-up, but when you dance for a living, you’ve got to have at least some competency when it comes to cosmetics. The voice in my ear buzzes.

  “Hey Lina. It’s Rochelle. I’m glad I caught you before your set.” I sigh. Roche is a decent person, and she manages a lot of curvy girls in the area who specialize in almost everything: modeling, acting, and yes, even stripping. I’ve worked with her for almost a year now, and she alternates between boss, mother-figure, taskmaster, and best friend.

  “Hey Roche, what’s up?” I ask.

  “I’ve got another gig for you next weekend if you’re interested.”

  “Ummm,” I hem and haw. I don’t want to jump on it because I can tell she’s holding something back.

  “It’s at Aphrodite’s.”

  I sigh. Aphrodite’s is an all-nude club, whereas I’m more of a bikini dancer as opposed to a full-fledged stripper. I just don’t want to take it all off because I want to save myself for someone special, even if that someone special hasn’t shown himself yet. Rochelle knows that too, and I don’t want to get into this discussion with her again, so I merely tell her that I’ll think about it.
